A film about the life of a summer house village, established for the Soviet elite on the banks of the Moscow River in the 20-30s of the last century.
The documentary play “Nikolina Gora” is a kind of continuation of A.P. Chekhov’s play “The Cherry Orchard” with real characters – representatives of Russian bohemia in the conditions of modern life. “Summer house, its residents – it’s so vulgar,” said the esthete Ranevskaya in Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard,” opposing the latter’s fragmentation into small pieces of land. But progress is inexorable, and the old “cherry orchard” had to be sold and cut down, and in place of the old summer houses and the old way of life, another life appears.
