THE IRON
When war became the daily reality of our region, it shook up the entire world, and it influences everything and everyone, no matter how far from the battle-fronts or whether one should wake up to the wail of air raid sirens.
In this setting, the characters that are revealed here are the ones that have always been present as echoes and witnesses of the war – noticed or unnoticed, praised or not paid attention to. The attitude against these characters can tell much about an individual and society.
The film consists of several novels about humans and military equipment in cities where military equipment resembles monuments on pedestals, where it is exhibited in fairs and special events, where it adorns festive parades and rusts in scrap yards.
Attitude toward these ‘iron beasts’ in countries that have caused wars and in countries that have become the victims of wars. In countries that have won wars and in those that haven’t yet healed from the trauma of defeat. In countries that are sure of their mightiness and in countries that should still fight with the consequences of their occupation in the recent past.
