What comes to mind when someone mentions Cuba, especially if you've never been there? Most likely, a convertible with cheerful fair-haired young men in colorful shirts and cocktails in their hands. And they are surrounded by dancing mulattoes whose eyes reflect the vast ocean.
Of all the above, in reality, there is only the vast ocean that separates the island from the rest of the world. There is probably no other country in the world where the difference between the created image and the reality is as great as that of Cuba.
For more than 50 years, the state has lived under the slogan of the victorious revolution: “Patria o Muerte” (“Motherland or Death”). For 50 years, this slogan has been a pressing dilemma for several generations of Cubans. The film tells the story of the generation born before the revolution and approaching the end of their life when it becomes more and more clear that for them it will be possible to put an equal sign between “homeland” and “death”.
