Dawn/Sunset is the twenty-four hours spent at the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamsala (India): from the start of the Dalai Lama's working day at three in the morning until sunset, when the world leader of Buddhists retires to sleep.
This footage is exclusive. In addition, the director holds a completely informal conversation with the Dalai Lama about the essence of the universe and the place of man and religion in modern society.
It was this conversation that became the tuning fork for the final part of the film, when the authors return from India through China to Russia, and the themes discussed with the Dalai Lama – the overpopulation of the world, stratification of society, ways to avoid world conflicts and wars – surprisingly received a vivid visual highlight.
